ROYCE 1-642 AM/SSB CB Radio (For Parts, But…. ) Picture(s) and Description:
It receives great.. it transmits great... but no modulation, hence being sold as "parts". Here's the story and you decide... This Royce 1-642 AM/SSB 40 channel CB base station I picked up a couple years back from a buddy clearing out his storage space. It works great... had it hooked to my base CB antenna and even worked skip. Best of all... no clown took the golden screwdriver to it. In other words, no extra channels, no tweeked up power, and no front controls are used for sounds, gadgets, or gimmicks. No one messed with the clarifier either. This seems to be a stock radio. Cosmetically this is a nice radio.. no dents in the wood side panels. There is (note the pic) a small peel-off of the edge veneer on the front right side panel. All LED segments work; all meters work; the clock works. Ok.. there are two problems. Just about a month ago the left meter light went out. I was anticipating replacing the bulb with one from Radio Shack. I was attempting to wire up and test an old D-104 mike that had seen some flood damage many years ago (no, the radio was never near water or a flood; just the D-104 mike) and for some reason the damaged mike took out the modulation on the radio. This was confirmed when I plugged in the previously working hand mike (pictured and included with the radio) and there was no modulation, but good carrier and receive. I am not techie enough to go tracing a modulation circuit and there's no sense me attempting to replace the burned out meter bulb at this point. My misfortune is your good fortune. On top of the radio problems I lost my job and unemployment is about to run out. So... bid well, everyone.. and bid often; I need gas in my car. Contact me if you have any questions. Domestic US shipping only. About Me, the Seller... I am not a power seller nor do I have any fancy Ebay store thing. I'm just an average joe (in America). The stuff I list is generally tossed my way from family members, found in relative's attics, or stuff I've purchased new myself years ago and I need to clean house. I prefer to be honest in all my listings and if something's not right I'd rather try and work it out in favor of the buyer rather than tick someone off (even though you can't make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try). All my sales are final... so to help a potential buyer make an informed bidding decision I will list as accurately as I can, illustrating any defects if any exist, and encouraging communications if more detail is needed. I will also do my best to pass on shipping charges that aren't inflated (as long as the local grocery store still tosses out decent shipping boxes).
